January is one of the hottest months of the year at Araluen Botanic Park with easterly winds it is easily the driest month. This extreme weather increases fire risks, but it also means that the vivid blue skies become clearer which makes the Park a very popular destination for the school holidays.

Although summer is a period of high fire danger in the nearby and surrounding bushland, the Park’s electric barbecues may still be used within the picnic areas. The Araluen staff are monitoring the DFES site daily and will give advance notice if any action is required.

Araluen Botanic Park is located within the Midgegooroo National Park and densely wooded surrounds. Therefore, fires and wood barbeques are banned at the Park.

When the weather exceeds the maximum temperature the risk of fire is greater, and we advise patrons to take caution and stay hydrated. Drinks are available at the Customer Service gate and drinking fountains.

The Park may be CLOSED for public safety at the discretion of management should temperatures exceed 7degrees above the maximum.
