Araluen Botanic Park is home to a stunning collection of rhododendrons and azaleas, celebrated for their brilliantly coloured, bell-shaped blooms and lush evergreen foliage. These flowering shrubs thrive in the Park’s shaded pathways, particularly along Chalet Healy Road, where they create a picturesque contrast against granite walls and paved terraces.
Many of these rhododendrons and azaleas date back to the early days of the Young Australia League (YAL) in the 1930s, a time when plant materials were freely brought across state and national borders — practices that helped shape Araluen’s diverse garden heritage.
