Volunteering is at the heart of Araluen Botanic Park Foundation

The Foundation is a highly professional committee made up of ten skilled volunteer members. These persons oversee the governance of the organisation. They provide direction to the General Manager who oversees operations and drives the vision on their behalf. The Araluen Botanic Park Foundation committee are voted in by members each year at the Annual General Meeting.

Our two volunteer garden groups have been active in the Park for over 15 years and help to keep the Park looking beautiful. These groups meet weekly in the garden and provide a few hours of work doing garden maintenance in the Park.

Get Involved with the Araluen Botanic Park Foundation

The Araluen Botanic Park Foundation is a volunteer-led committee responsible for the governance and long-term sustainability of the Park.

If you are a current paid member, you are warmly invited to attend our Annual General Meeting (AGM). The AGM is an opportunity to hear about achievements, future plans, and how the Foundation is working to protect and grow this unique garden for the community.

We value the involvement of our members and encourage you to play a part in shaping the Park’s future.

Rosebudders

The Rosebudders come in weekly and provide specialist skills to assist the garden staff in keeping the 3000+ Rose Bushes ship shape. This group has around seven active members. From time to time they bring in their friends and colleagues from specialist garden enthusiast groups like the Heritage Rose Society members. They love to share time, knowledge and skills with us on everything roses.

Wednesday Walkers

Wednesday Walkers are a small group of financial members who live locally and access the bushland for a weekly fitness catch up. Some of these volunteers run our fundraising activities for School Holiday activities. The garden walk tours in Springtime or selling raffle tickets at the annual Christmas Carols by Torchlight event held in the Amphitheatre each year.

Volunteer Tulip Planters

Each year in the cool Autumn months we call out for Volunteer Tulip Planters to help us prepare the park for the annual Its Yates Springtime at Araluen Tulip Festival. In exchange for volunteer efforts each participant is given a free entry back to the festival. It’s become an annual pilgrimage for Perth people, who come each year to join in the gardening fun.

We celebrate our volunteers regularly

Each week after gardening we come together for morning tea and chat to share garden knowledge and gossip. But a special time of year when the Foundation really say thanks is at the National Volunteer Week. Look out on our social pages for posts and videos around this time. You might spot someone you know.
